Translation of books

Due to paucity of Assamese picture books in the market, NEET has translated and published more than 100 picture books in Assamese from Pratham’s online platform story weaver.

Creation of handmade books

We have created handmade bilingual books while developing curricular materials for English Language learning classes. We have also translated from SEBA (State Education Board of Assam)’s English text-books.

Published Books

We had organised a series of workshop on street play, art, dance, reading and writing which had culminated in a one-day event, “Ontorongo Aalap” where the children showcased their learnings. During the workshop we had also organised a story writing competition, the winner’s story was published in the form of a picture book and its illustrations were done by the participants of the art workshop.

Sadhur Safura: Sadhur Safura is a collection of Assamese fairy tales passed down from one generation to another as an oral tradition. Some of the stories include translations of Panchatantra and Aesop’s fables. This collection is a picture book designed to provide contextual and age appropriate Assamese stories to help children develop language skills by connecting with their mother tongue. 

Blossom Series:Blossom series is a set of 5 Bilingual(Assamese and English) Picture books containing chapters from SCERT English Text-books of Class I-VIII in a picture book format. It includes stories, travelogues, biographies included in the SCERT English Textbooks in the form of beautiful illustrations to enable easy understating.

Teacher Guiding Documents: 

  1. Accelerated English Learning: The Accelerated English Learning Programme is a package of activities, worksheets and curricular materials like flashcards, description cards and word charts to enable learners to read and write basic English within a short period of time. The worksheets have been designed to help children with exposure to English pick up the basic skills of speaking, reading, writing English. 

  2. Accelerated Assamese Learning: programme: A guiding document for teachers to help them teach Assamese as a bridge course to children who struggle to learn the basics of Assamese. It will help teachers to teach in a combination of whole language and phonetic approach through specially developed activities and contextual stories that would enable children to relate with their environment. It is a package of contextual TLM’s, handmade picture-books, story charts, flashcards and worksheets.

  3. Vibrant Library: A guiding document for educators containing different activities to set up a vibrant library and create interest within children in the act of reading. It also contains a curated collection of age appropriate Assamese and English books along with lesson plans outlining a set of activities and worksheets for each book.

It consists of TLMs, abridged stories and story-boards and detailed lesson plan for the chapters in English SCERT Text-books between Class I-V to help teachers teach in an effective manner.

Teacher Guiding Document I-V (Assamese): This document focuses on the following aspects of teaching Assamese: objectives of Assamese teaching and learning,Pedagogy of Assamese language and Assessment of Assamese language pedagogy. It consists of Curricular materials in the form of picture-books, description cards, charts, flash cards for SCERT Assamese textbooks of class I to V.
